Branding – Fish and Richardson, Minneapolis, MN
We were asked by our client to source a sculpture for a challenging space within the lobby area of their new offices in the downtown Minneapolis. Their request was to have us locate a fish sculpture as a way of subtlety branding their environment. Because the space was so oddly shaped we knew that we would likely have to work with an artist to create something unique and special. After searching locally and nationally we came up with several options for our clients to review consisting of visuals from several Artists. Upon seeing photos of the space one of the Artists, David Tonnesen for Massachusetts, was inspired by the space and submitted a sketch of his idea. Our clients loved his work and the ideas that we presented to the client and the commission was awarded to him. We worked with the artist and our client coordinating all the details of this project regarding material, size, texture, coloration, timeline, shipping options and installation. David, who was a constant professional and really worked in as a collaborator with us to make the sculpture a reality for our client, even sending us progress photographs as he was fabricating the sculpture and the client’s approval. He included instructions on installation and shipped it on time for it to be installed onsite for an event that the client was having a few days later.
Framing – Letitia Little
We had worked with Letitia Little on selecting artwork for her client’s home and the prefect framing for it as well. However when we received the frame for one of the pieces our framer kept getting small black flakes on the matting behind the glass. Our framer took it apart several times to clean it and was ready to give up on it. Then our art consultant pulled the sample to examine it and noticed that the inside rabbit of the frame was stained black and deduced that when the framer used framers points little particles were flaking off onto the mat. We contacted the vendor and alerted them of this issue in case other framers were having the same problem with that same frame. The vendor replaced the frame but just to be safe, the art consultant also sealed the inside of the rabbit with three thin coats clear acrylic vanish and let it dry over the weekend. The piece was put together by the framer and no more black flakes! Sometimes thinking outside the “frame “ is the best solution. The designer and client were patient and understanding while we worked through the problem and are very happy with their framed art.
